Primate's Message
Once again, as a country we wake up to horrifying news this time from the State of Nevada. The perpetrator of this cowardly act is the personification of pure evil. Having claimed the lives of 58 people and injuring more than 500, we as a nation are in a state of shock and disbelief as a result of the massacre on the Las Vegas strip.
At these most difficult times, we mourn the loss of the men and women whose lives were brutally claimed in the most gutless fashion. At times of tragedy, we call for unity and prayer.
However, it cannot be undermined that such devastating acts, rooted in evil, are also a cause for anger. God’s miraculous gift of life is in danger even in most serene environments. As a spiritual leader, I call upon our faithful to demonstrate resilience. Continue to enjoy God’s wondrous creation and tranquility. Seek God’s love and peace and implement the divine commandments in your lives. Continue to live without fear for we cannot let evil be granted victory over the peace-loving people of God. Remember the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to His disciples “In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Prayerfully,
Archbishop Hovnan Derderian
