YOUNG LEADERS

to a new life” Archbishop Hovnan Derderian
Archbishop Hovnan Derderian found it necessary to enrich the Diocese with young and capable
clergymen to meet the spiritual needs of the largest Armenian community outside Armenia.
Thus, in the last decade, 9 clergymen were invited to the Western Diocese for administrative or
pastoral duties, 6 young clergymen were ordained as priests, 270 were ordained as deacons and
sub-deacons, and 315 were ordained as acolytes.
