Sunrise (Arevakal) Service On The Median Day Of Lent

On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, presided over the Median Day of Lent (Mitchink) Sunrise (Arevakal) Service at St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral. Archpriest Fr. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian, Archpriest Fr. Hovsep Hagopian, Archpriest Fr. Manoug Markarian and the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan participated in the service.  

A Lenten reception, organized by the Bible Study Group was held at the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Banquet Hall following the service.

In his remarks, the Primate commended the dedication of Mr. Mashdots Jobanian, Director of the Religious Education Department of the Western Diocese for his selfless service to the Armenian Apostolic Church and his unrelenting dedication to spreading the Word of God. 

In the evening, the Primate, with the participation of Abp. Vatche Hovsepian, Archpriest Fr. Zaven Arzoumanian, Archpriest Fr. Arshag Khatchadourian, Archpriest Fr. Hovsep Hagopian, the Rev. Fr. Mikayel Kyureghyan, the Rev. Fr. Vazken Movsesian and the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, presided over the evening vigil at the Cathedral. The hymns of the vespers were performed by the Khachadourian Choir under the directorship of Dn. Stepan Gozumian.

The vigil was followed by an Agape Meal organized by the Cathedral’s Ladies Guild chaired by Mrs. Araxie Boyamian in the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Hall.
