At 6:00 pm, on January 6, the Primate and Diocesan clergymen of the Greater Los Angeles area performed the Blessing of the Home (Dnorhnek) ceremony following an evening prayer service at St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral.
His Eminence noted the importance of the year 2017 in the life of the Western Diocese as it marks a milestone, namely the 90th anniversary of religious institution's establishment. The Primate called upon the faithful to collectively contribute to the vivacity of the Western Diocese through collective service and support of the number of missions presently being realized. He extended his pastoral blessings to the faithful praying for God's immeasurable love to accompany the flock of Christ. Â Â Â
Close to 500 people attended the traditional evening reception which followed the Dnornek service. Guests were treated to a reception organized by Mrs. Ramella Serobyan, Mrs. Aida Askejian, Mrs. Alice Chakrian and Ms. Delilah Shahbazian at the Nazareth and Sima Kalaydjian Hall where they enjoyed a festive celebration.
The artistic portion of the program included recitations of Armenian poems by Nune Avetisyan and folkloric songs by Gagik Badalyan, Salbi Mailyan, and Armen Hovhannesyan. Â
During reception the hundreds of faithful in attendance addressed their congratulatory wishes to the Primate and departed with gifts from the spiritual leader.
