Under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate, St. Leon Armenian Cathedral Ladies’ Guild hosted the 6th Annual Christmas Boutique and luncheon at the Taglyan Cultural Center on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. The boutique is a part of a series of festivities celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Diocesan clergy present at the event were the Very Rev. Pakrad Dz. V. Berjekian, Vicar General, and the Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Pastor St. Leon Armenian Cathedral.

Guests were welcomed by Araxie Boyamian, Chair of St. Leon Cathedral Ladies Guild, who expressed her gratitude to everyone for attending the event. Mrs. Boyamian thanked the donors and the sponsors especially to Drs. Petros and Karine Taglyan for hosting the luncheon and for their benevolent contributions to various Diocesan organizations.

Following the invocation by Archpriest Fr. Manoug Markarian, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian thanked everyone for attending the event and extended his gratitude to Drs. Petros and Karine Taglyan for their unwavering support of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and for their philanthropic contribution to various Diocesan projects. An award, recognizing the invaluable service of the couple was presented to Mrs. Karine Taglyan by the Primate. The Primate commended the efforts of the members of St. Leon Cathedral Ladies Guild for their hard work and dedicated service in ensuring a festive and memorable event year after year. In recognition of her resolute leadership, the Primate presented a special gift to the Guild’s Chairlady Mrs. Araxie Boyamian.
Approximately 400 guests enjoyed the musical program Christmas caroling performed by the Citrus Singers from Citrus College under the direction of Douglas Austin and Armenian popular songs sung by Lou Varoujan.

A video presentation was made on the new initiative of Ladies Guild, namely The ECF Kindergarten Project. The Guild is dedicated to raising funds to cover the yearly nutrition costs of the St. Grigor Naregatsi Spiritual and Cultural Center in Qarakert village of Armavir Region.

The committee surrounded by the Honoree Mrs. Karine Taglyan, and Diramayr Jeanette Derderian together celebrated Archbishop Derderian’s birthday in the traditional cutting of the cake ceremony.


The guests also enjoyed lottery drawing a selection of beautiful items, donated from the boutique. The guests will shop at exquisite boutiques at the Galleria and will enjoy a delicious lunch at the beautifully decorated Taglyan Banquet Hall.

Members of St Leon Armenian Cathedral’s Ladies Guild have worked hard to ensure the continued prosperity of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The Guild strongly supports the noble mission of the Stewardship Program of the Western Diocese, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian Scholarship Fund and St. Leon Armenian Cathedral.Â
