Primate Attends Reception In Honor Of His Holiness Mar Awa Iii

On February 7, 2025, the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by the Very Rev. Fr. Yeremia Abgaryan, attended a reception in honor of His Holiness Mar Awa III, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.

Hosted by Cor Bishop Fr. George Bet-Rasho of St. Mary’s Assyrian Church of the East, the reception was attended by clergy and ecumenical guests. The Primate conveyed his genuine and wholehearted wishes to the His Holiness, wishing him health, strength and wisdom in his pastoral ministry.

In a historic decision by the Holy Synod, Mar Awa III was elected as the 122^nd Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East on September 8 2021, making him the first western-born Catholicos-Patriarch.
