On January 30, 2025, the executive leadership team of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry visited the Headquarters of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America. The delegation, led by Dr. Frieda Jordan, president of the registry’s Board of Directors, was welcomed by the Diocesan Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.
Dr. Frieda Jordan thanked Archbishop Derderian for the Diocese’s ardent support throughout the years. past support. She also spoke about educating the Armenian community about the critical need — and extreme ease — of registering as a bone marrow donor.
Expressing their steadfast belief in the life-saving mission of the ABMDR, Archbishop Derderian renewed his commitment to the registry, promising to continue to raise public awareness of its work and encourage bone marrow donor registration among their congregations. In this regard, the Rev. Fr. Nzhdeh Keshishyan was appointed as the Diocese’s liaison to the ABMDR.
About the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry:
Established in 1999, ABMDR, a nonprofit organization, helps Armenians and non-Armenians worldwide survive life-threatening blood-related illnesses by recruiting and matching donors to those requiring bone marrow stem cell transplants.
