A Night of Light and Reverence: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at St. Peter Armenian Church

On December 24, 2024, the faithful of St. Peter Armenian Church of Van Nuys gathered for the traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service, a cherished celebration of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The sanctuary glowed with the warm light of candles as hymns filled the air, creating an atmosphere of reverence and joy. The service was attended by the Diocesan Primate, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. His message reflected on the profound mystery of Christ’s birth and its enduring significance for the faithful, encouraging all to embrace the love and light of the Savior. Archbishop Derderian thanked the pastor Archpriest Fr. Shnork Demirjian for graciously hosting the beautiful event.

Amidst the jubilant voices of the choir, a highlight of the evening was a special performance by the member of the parish, portraying the Miraculous Birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through heartfelt acting and a spirit of devotion, the young performers brought the Nativity story to life, touching the hearts of all in attendance. Their dedication was a beautiful testament to the vitality of faith among the younger generation and their commitment to honoring the sacred traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The candlelight service at St. Peter Armenian Church was a moving celebration of faith, hope, and community, drawing the faithful closer to the divine light of Christ during this holy season.
