LAUSD's Flag Program Students Visit the Western Diocese

More than 80 students (from the Flag Program of the Los Angeles Unified School District), accompanied by their teachers, visited the Western Diocese on Friday, March 15, 2024. They were welcomed by the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, the Very Rev. Fr. Yeremia Abgaryan and the Diocese's Librarian and Ecumenical Officer Mr. Hayk Madoyan.

The students showcased their talents performing songs and dances. The Primate expressed his great appreciation to the teachers for instilling in the hearts of the students the love and reverence for the Armenian culture and traditions.

The students and teachers also participated in a guided tour of the Diocesan Aga-Sargsyan Library, St. Leon (Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral and  the Zorayan Museum in the Cathedral's lower gallery.

The Flag Program is a dual language immersion program in which the school curriculum is instructed in both English and Armenian.
