Bishop Jon Bruno Enters Eternal Rest (1947-2021)

It is with deep sadness that we inform the passing of the Most Reverend John Bruno, the bishop of the six-county Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles from 2002 to 2017. Bishop Bruno entered his eternal rest on April 23, 2021. He was 74.

"Bishop Jon Bruno was a beloved friend of the Western Diocese," stated the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. "A man of humble character, he brought together the religious leaders of Los Angeles with a compassionate heart. He served the faithful of the Episcopal Diocese with unrelenting dedication and enduring affection. May the Good Lord accept His humble servant in the abode of the heavenly saints," His Eminence continued.

In recognition of Bishop Bruno's friendship with the Armenian-American community, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian consecrated a cross-stone in his honor on the East Wall of St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral.
