We are pleased to inform the Diocesan faithful that with the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Diocesan Primate, the Western Diocese announces a three-day lent and fasting period in support of the Armenian soldiers in the front lines in Artsakh.
This Lenten period will begin on Friday, October 23 at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday, October 25, with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.
On Friday from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, a special prayer vigil will be held at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral (3325 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank). The service will be presided by the Diocesan Primate H.E. Abp. Hovnan Derderian with the participation of the reverend clergy of the Western Diocese. All faithful are invited to attend. Â
Special prayers have been selected in preparation for this fasting (Lenten) period. They must be recited three times daily at 9:00 a.m., at 3:00 p.m., and at 7:00 p.m., respectively.
The funds saved from the fasting (Lenten) period are encouraged to be donated to Armenia Fund for humanitarian relief.
On Friday from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, a special prayer vigil will be held at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral (3325 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank) in memory of the martyred soldiers and for those valiant men and women who are in the front lines defending our homeland.
The service will be presided by the Diocesan Primate H.E. Abp. Hovnan Derderian with the participation of the reverend clergy of the Western Diocese. All faithful are invited to attend. Â
