Honoring Those Who Perished

Today, all Americans honor the memory of all victims of the September 11th attacks. The horrifying terrorist act shattered the foundation of the land of the free. All of us need to feel in the depth of our hearts the pain of mothers, fathers and children who never thought that the September 11, 2001 would be their last day on Earth, separating them from their beloved ones.

Their pain should give us all a message that the best way to honor their memory would be to become peacemakers and re-builders of America and the torchbearers of their undying legacy.

St. Leon (Srbots Ghevontiants) Armenian Cathedral honored their memory on the 9th anniversary of the attacks with a khatchkar (cross stone) which was consecrated by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patrirach and Catholicos of All Armenians. The service was attended by hundreds including the Mayor of Los Angeles at the time. This monument is a lasting reminder of our trust in God and our pledge to honor our citizenship and loyalty to the United States of America.
