"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."Â (John 8:32).
For the handful of Armenian Genocide survivors who remain, the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ resonate in their hearts. The divine message of Christ were the prayers of our martyred ancestors which echoed for over a century. They perished praying the words Christ "is the way, and the Truth and the life" (John 14:6) convinced in the Truth of Christ's Resurrection. In 2015, the souls of the 1.5 million martyrs were set free through their sanctification. Â
Yesterday, historical truth was cemented in the annals of human history with the passing of the Armenian Genocide Resolution by the Unites States Senate by unanimous consent. For decades, attempts were made by lobby groups to deny the systematic and premeditated annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians. Historical documents by the perpetrators which have been preserved cannot be altered. Recorded international eyewitness accounts and archival records cannot be concealed nor denied. Truth and justice however always prevail.
The bipartisan effort in the United States Senate to recognize the Armenian Genocide is indeed commendable. On a personal level, as a descendant of Genocide survivors, it is indeed humbling and truly gratifying. We express our wholehearted gratitude to Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Ted Cruz and all co-sponsors of this historic resolution. With deep appreciation, we commend the tireless work of the Armenian National Committee of America, and the Armenian Assembly of America whose relentless pursuit of justice has been remarkable.Â
May God bless and protect the United States of America.Â
