St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church of Santa Clarita celebrated its 6th Anniversary with a gala banquet on April 2, 2016. The celebratory event was held at the Dream Palace Banquet Hall in Glendale.
The Pastor of the Armenian-American community of Santa Clarita the Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan, highlighted the accomplishments of St. Sarkis Church since its establishment as a mission parish in 2004. In his remarks, Fr. Nerses reflected on the tremendous strides taken by the parish in its brief history. He expressed his gratitude to His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian for his pastoral guidance and support throughout the years.


The Primate commended the collective efforts of Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan, the members of the Parish Council, Ladies Society and all auxiliary bodies of the Santa Clarita parish for their service. His Eminence encouraged parishioners to serve Christ, our Lord with renewed passion and zeal. In appreciation of their relentless dedication and selfless service, the Primate presented Fr. Nerses with a hand cross.
In his congratulatory letter addressed to the faithful of the Santa Clarita parish, His Eminence wrote in part “St. Sarkis Armenian Church of Santa Clarita has been an exemplary parish of the Western Diocese. Under the resolute pastoral leadership of the Rev. Fr. Nerses Hayrapetyan, and the collective efforts of the Parish Council and the auxiliary bodies, the parish, nestled in the heart of Newhall, has continually flourished. Your beloved Father Nerses has been the catalyst of strength and unity. As your spiritual leader, the young pastor has demonstrated tremendous passion of mission fulfillment. We express our words of appreciation to the entire community for your unrelenting dedication to carrying out the mission of St. Sarkis Armenian Church.

Through its thriving Saturday and Sunday Schools, the vibrant youth have been inspired by the Gospel of Christ, our Lord as well as the sacred traditions of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Christian values which we commonly hold in reverence.”
Guests took home a special commemorative booklet marking the auspicious occasion.
