Primate Pays Pastoral Visit to St. Geragos Armenian Church of Las Vegas

On Sunday, June 2, 2019, the faithful community of St. Geragos Armenian Church of Las Vegas received the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America who celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon.

During the service Archbishop Derderian granted four minor orders of acolyte to three altar servers and ordained five deacons into the Diaconate. The Primate also consecrated two religious paintings and blessed the head veils of the Church Choir ladies. In recognition of their selfless service rendered to the Las Vegas parish, His Eminence bestowed “Hye Spirit” medals to Hovsep Shadarevian, and Karen Setanyan, Parish Council Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively.

Archbishop Derderian also called forth to the nave Mr. Alexander Mctarian and Mrs. Aline Papazian and presented them a beautiful silver gift in loving memory of their late daughter “ANI McTARIAN” on the first anniversary of her internment. Reflecting on the significance of St. Geragos Armenian Church in the Primate stated that the Las Vegas parish has become the religious, spiritual and cultural jewel of the community. Archbishop Derderian also commended the dedicated service and pastoral leadership of the Very Reverend Father Sasoon Dz. V. Zumrookhdian, whose contributions in the vivacity of the parish have been most evident.
