Primate Delivers Opening Prayer at the 2018 Annual ARCLAR Prayer Breakfast

His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America delivered the opening prayer at the 2018 American Red Cross Los Angeles Region's Annual Prayer BreakfastĀ on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Archbishop Derderian was accompanied by Joseph Kanimian, Esq., Chairman of the Diocesan Council and member of the Board of Trustees of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region.

Below is the Primate’s prayer in its entirety:

Today we reflect on the vast contributions of the American Red Cross in the life of our society. Its compassionate care, unrelenting dedication to selfless service and enduring affection for those who have been affected by natural disasters is unparalleled and unmatched.

Humanitarianism is the abiding element of the American Red Cross, one that defines this noble institution. Millions around the world can attest to the compassion and indomitability to which it represents. The soaring theme of the American Red Cross is that humanity and hope will always endure at times of grief and uncertainty. The men and women of the American Red Cross possess unfathomable strength and courage. The effect they have had on the lives of those they have touched is immeasurable.

O God,

We pray for the American Red Cross and its God-pleasing mission. We pray for those men and women who sacrifice their time, effort for the overall betterment of humanity. We pray for the Board of Directors and ask that You grant them the vision, courage, strength and determination to continue their steadfast service of helping the people of God.

In our prayers, we remember the victims of the wildfires and their surviving family members. We pray for those that have been affected by natural disasters around the world and ask that You grant them peace and consolation in their times of desperation and need.

We acknowledge Your love and compassion for humanity and pray that you continue to instill in our hearts Your divine wisdom and strength.
