Primate Celebrant at St. Mary Armenian Church of Yettem

On September 30, 2018, our St. Mary Yettem Parish was blessed with a pastoral visitation by the Diocesan Primate His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. St. Mary parishioners received Holy Communion from His Eminence and were inspired by his spiritual message.

Archbishop Derderian’s sermon was centered on the Words of Christ our Lord in the Gospel according to St. Matthew: “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away” (Matt. 24:35). “These divine words empower us with God’s wisdom and love. They instill in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit and above all enlighten us with the vision of imitating Christ,” said Archbishop Derderian in part.

“Two thousand years have passed from the earthly life of our Savior and to this day we all feel in the depth of our hearts the immeasurable wisdom condensed in the Word of God, the messages radiating from the Gospels, which truly have cultivated the lives of humankind. Furthermore, the life of Christ, our Lord continues to be the living Gospel to inspire us all to live a God-pleasing life and to make our individual lives a blessing for one another.

These divine words empower us with God’s wisdom and love. They instill in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit and above all enlighten us with the vision of imitating Christ,” His Eminence continued.

In recognition of her selfless service and dedication to St. Mary Armenian Church of Yettem, Archbishop Derderian presented a Hye Spirit award to parishioner Linda Farsakian-Wall. Commending her steadfastness to St. Mary Armenian Church, the Primate said “Linda Farsakian-Wall has been a humble and dedicated daughter of the Armenian Church. For the past fifteen years, I have witnessed her devotion and humility and today, we honor Linda and extend to her our gratitude. Dear Mrs. Farsakian-Wall, the greatest gift one can get is love, respect and honor of the people. You have truly lived the Word of God and looked at Christ as the journey of your life.”

After church services, a lunch reception was hosted by the Parish Council and auxiliary organizations in the Majarian Hall where the congregation enjoyed performances by the Sunday School students.
